New Houses for Teachers in Malokotera

Malokotera in Maloko is often inaccessible, being almost 30km from a tarred road and the road to the village is one of the worst in Africa.

In 2018 SHF funded two school blocks and we recently completed housing for teachers which is vital in retaining teachers in such a remote place. Our representative, Thomas Malopa, handed over the keys.

The community and the teachers also agreed to name the school “Malokotera SHF Community School”.

Graduation from Pre-School

The community in Rothana, Sierra Leone where SHF has a primary school took a great initiative in setting up a pre-school, our first in Africa.

Now the happy day has arrived when the beautiful children of Rothana graduate to primary school.

The occasion was marked with a magical ceremony.

Security for a clinic

We work closely with ESARDEF and Etang Mbeng in Cameroon, often in partnership with Global Pearls in the USA. Etang sought equipment for a clinic in Ajayukndip and together with Global Pearls we sent assistance.

To enhance security in this war-torn country we also funded two formidable doors. They are also a good example of the skilled local workers.

Clean Water is Vital

Masailoo is located 15km from the paved  Lunsar – Makeni Highway in Northern Sierra Leone. It has a total population of about 270 people.  It has 18 Houses with corrugated iron sheet roofs and 8 Wattle structures with thatch roofs. 129 of the total population are children. 55 attend the SHF Richard Kamara School in Rogballan Madina  whilst the remaining 74 are children under five.

There is no good source of drinking water within the community. The people use locally dug water wells in nearby swamps, the stream that passes by and rain water for drinking.
