Cameroon is home to a forgotten war. The civil war in the Anglophone region has resulted in many deaths and hundreds of thousands of displacements.
The SHF school in Koano was closed for a long time and it has reopened in a restricted way. One of the teachers was shot dead by government troops.
The Irish government advises against travel and the area where SHF operates is dangerous.
Nevertheless, in cooperation with partners ESARDEF led by Etang Mbeng we have managed to contribute to health and education. Jointly with US foundation Global Pearls we funded an ultrasound machine in the Eyumojock District Hospital helping to lower maternal and infant mortality.
Our scholarship programme continues in Debundscha school.
Work is progressing slowly at the water scheme in Efah where we have funded the piping to renew the scheme.
